Feeling excited but slightly apprehensive about the upcoming SkyRun Eryri? That’s completely normal. The event is undoubtedly demanding, but with the right preparation and support, it is entirely achievable.

To help participants build confidence and gain essential experience on the course, we are pleased to offer guided recce runs. As part of the race entry requirements, runners should have experience of Grade 1 scrambling or above. This recce day will provide that opportunity through a traverse of Crib Goch (weather permitting).

These sessions are limited to just 12 places and are led by experienced local mountain running guides with extensive knowledge of the terrain. Early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Highlights from last year’s event can also be viewed in our Facebook gallery.

Meeting Point and Route Overview

We will meet at the Pen-y-Gwryd Hotel (Aid Station 3 during the race) before completing the ‘south loop’ of the figure-of-eight race route. Our guiding team has a wide range of personal and professional experience on this course and will be happy to answer any questions throughout the day.

Weather permitting, the route will include an early traverse of Crib Goch while participants are still fresh. We will then continue along the official race line via the Snowdon Ranger Path to the event HQ in Rhyd-Ddu, where we will have the opportunity to stop for refreshments at the excellent Ty Mawr Tearoom.

After refuelling, we will follow the race route via the Snowdon Rhyd-Ddu Path, then traverse Y Lliwedd back toward Pen-y-Pass. From there, we will briefly retrace our steps to return to the Pen-y-Gwryd Hotel. Participants are welcome to stay afterwards for a drink and a relaxed debrief.
